Guest mix by Dj BPM DJ BPM, is one of the rare female grime dj pioneers, showcasing Grime music to international audiences since 2004. She has played grime in a jail in Colombia, headlined at Fusion festival Germany and toured with Newham Generals in Australia and Dubai and hosts her own show "Grime for the Unconverted" on world renown arts radio station Resonance 104.4FM. As a producer she has releases on J Sweets' "100 Grime Instrumentals" series on Mixing Records and Global Vortex Records (USA). Having spent time in Portugal in her early 20's, the Portuguese people she met made such an impression she returned many years later to form “Grime Disse Ela” a platform to support the evolution of Grime in Iberia, "Quando Entro" featuring Ex Peão and Berna, produced by Sirpixalot (UK) was the first Grime video release in Portugal June 2017. BPM plays with experimental band V4V spearheaded by maestro drummer Charles Hayward (This Heat, This is Not This Heat). Under her alias Feralmind she has produced tracks for Claudia Wegeners "Both Sides of The Zambezi a project in support of women in Africa and "Resist" for "Poemontrial" to help raise legal costs for Dareen Tatour a poet from Palestine imprisoned for writing poetry. Born in Co Antrim during the "Troubles", she left home at 17 ending up in London where she later fell in love with the underground rave scene and electronic dance music and later Grime. Her early productions were sound tracks for fine art installations and performances, in 1996 she formed Sampleterrorist a live drum and bass band praised by Nigel Kennedy but disbanded in 1999. "When I was growing up there weren't any female DJs that I knew off , no role models so it wasn't something I thought I could aspire to, but I always loved music and dancing, and when I discovered the underground party scene in London I was inspired by other female DJs such as Ixindamix from Spiral Tribe and Rowan Megabitch and eventually started DJing, at that time I was already a mum and in my 30's, I never imagined it was something I would do professionally. I found TV boring, when my kids were asleep I was playing Mario 64, then I realised if I put as much time into practising something creative like DJing then maybe I could achieve the seemingly impossible, worse case senario at least Id get to know who was producing the music I loved. I started collecting vinyl and playing with underground sound systems Amorphous (which I later joined as crew), Siren, Unsound, Sectionsix, Dissident, Acme, Bogotrax and more, and now I have played in countries all over the world including support DJ for the Newham Generals and S.K.I.T.Z Beatz on their Warrior Tour 2015 in Dubai and Australia. I got into grime because my son was in the same school year as P Money and in 2003 he was bringing home burnt CDs from school - thats where I first heard Essentials, D Double E, Wiley, Dizzee, Bossman, etc and it was by far the most exciting music I was hearing at that time… I started collecting white labels, Grime has been a passion, an addiction and lifeline ever since."
